Biography of pianist kuan-wei chen
Kuan-Wei Chen began studying piano at the age of four and gave his first public performance at the age of five. At sixteen, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where he studied with Prof. Konrad Maria Engel. After completing his Master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, he is currently continuing his studies in the postgraduate piano program in the class of Prof. Anna Malikova.
In 2025, he was selected as a finalist of the 65th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. He was also awarded the 5th Prize and the Special Prize for the Best Interpretation of a Catalan Composer at the 70th Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona. In August of the same year, he won the 1st Prize as well as the Paderewski Prize at the 14th Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition in Vienna. In addition, he appeared at the 2025 Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition in Brussels.
Further competition achievements include the 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the Giovanni Colafemmina International Piano Competition (Italy, 2024), the 1st Prize at the Radovljica International Piano Competition (Slovenia, 2023), and the 3rd Prize together with two special prizes at the Les Étoiles du Piano International Piano Competition (France, 2023).
He is also a laureate of the Fondation Clavarte (Switzerland), a recipient of the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship (Austria), and a selected artist of the Althafen Foundation Talent Studio Cohort. In the 2026/27 season, he will join the Académie Jaroussky at La Seine Musicale in Paris.
Kuan-Wei Chen made his orchestral debut in 2009 with the Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra. Among his earlier distinctions are the 1st Prize at the International Piano Competition Troisdorf (Germany, 2017) and the 3rd Prize at the Flute–Piano Duo Competition of the Usedom Music Festival (2018). In 2019, he was selected for the “2020–2021 International Music Talent Project” of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, and in 2022 he received the “Music Rising Star” award from New Taipei City.
Kuan-Wei Chen has performed in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Slovenia, China, Taiwan, and Macau, and has collaborated with orchestras such as the Orchestre de Picardie, the Orchestra Filarmonica Pugliese, and the Orchestra da Camera del Friuli Venezia Giulia. He has also received artistic inspiration through masterclasses with renowned musicians including Arie Vardi, Robert Levin, Bernd Goetzke, Klaus Hellwig, Alexei Lubimov, and Claudio Martínez-Mehner.
Kuan-Wei Chen begann im Alter von vier Jahren mit dem Klavierspiel und gab bereits mit fünf Jahren sein erstes öffentliches Konzert. Mit sechzehn Jahren wurde er an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin aufgenommen, wo er bei Prof. Konrad Maria Engel studierte. Nach Abschluss seines Masterstudiums an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien setzt er dort derzeit seine Studien im postgradualen Universitätslehrgang Klavier in der Klasse von Prof. Anna Malikova fort.
Im Jahr 2025 wurde er als Finalist des 65. Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition ausgewählt. Zudem erhielt er den 5. Preis sowie den Sonderpreis für die beste Interpretation eines katalanischen Komponisten beim 70. Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona. Im August desselben Jahres gewann er den 1. Preis sowie den Paderewski-Preis beim 14. Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition in Wien.Im selben Jahr nahm er am Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition in Brüssel teil.
Weitere Wettbewerbserfolge umfassen den 1. Preis und den Publikumspreis beim Giovanni Colafemmina International Piano Competition (Italien, 2024), den 1. Preis beim Radovljica International Piano Competition (Slowenien, 2023) sowie den 3. Preis und zwei Sonderpreise beim Les Étoiles du Piano International Piano Competition (Frankreich, 2023).
Zudem ist er Laureat der Fondation Clavarte (Schweiz), Stipendiat der Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (Österreich) sowie ausgewählter Künstler im Talent Studio Cohort der Althafen Foundation. Ab der Saison 2026/27 wird er in die Académie Jaroussky an der Seine Musicale in Paris aufgenommen.
Sein Orchesterdebüt gab Kuan-Wei Chen im Jahr 2009 mit dem Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra. Zu seinen weiteren frühen Auszeichnungen zählen der 1. Preis beim Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb Troisdorf (Deutschland, 2017) sowie der 3. Preis beim Flöten-Klavier-Duo-Wettbewerb des Usedom Musikfestivals (2018). Künstlerische Impulse erhielt er zudem in Meisterkursen bei renommierten Musikern wie Arie Vardi, Robert Levin, Bernd Goetzke, Klaus Hellwig, Alexei Lubimov und Claudio Martínez-Mehner.
陳冠偉五歲開始學習鋼琴，先後師事蔡毓珍、陳盧寧、李娓娓、林珮琪、范姜毅，以及德國鋼琴家 Paul Kern。十六歲考入德國柏林漢斯・艾斯勒音樂學院（Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin），師從 Konrad Maria Engel 教授。
其後赴奧地利國立維也納音樂與表演藝術大學（mdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien）深造，完成鋼琴演奏碩士學位。目前於同校安娜・馬利科娃（Anna Malikova）教授門下，持續進修鋼琴 Postgraduate 學程（Postgradualer Universitätslehrgang Klavier）。
2025 年，陳冠偉入選第 65 屆 Ferruccio Busoni 國際鋼琴比賽決賽名單。三月時於西班牙巴塞隆納舉行的第 70 屆 Maria Canals 國際鋼琴比賽中獲第五名，並獲頒 Joan Artur Roura i Comas 獎，以表彰其對加泰隆尼亞作曲家作品的詮釋。8 月於維也納舉行的第 14 屆 Rosario Marciano 國際鋼琴比賽中，榮獲第一名及 Paderewski 獎。同年亦參加比利時 Queen Elisabeth 國際鋼琴大賽。
近年重要獲獎包括：2024 年義大利 Giovanni Colafemmina 國際鋼琴比賽第一名與觀眾獎；2023 年於斯洛維尼亞 Radovljica 國際鋼琴比賽奪冠；同年於法國 Les Étoiles du Piano 國際鋼琴比賽獲第三名，另獲委託作品最佳詮釋獎及 La Flandre Assurances 獎。亦為瑞士 Fondation Clavarte 獎學金得主、奧地利 Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe 獎學金得主，並獲 Althafen Foundation 資助。2026/27 樂季亦獲選加入法國巴黎 La Seine Musicale 之 Académie Jaroussky。
陳冠偉於 2009 年與台北世紀交響樂團合作，完成管弦樂團首演。早期成就包括 2017 年德國 Troisdorf 國際鋼琴比賽首獎，以及 2018 年德國 Usedom 音樂節長笛與鋼琴二重奏比賽第三名。2019 年入選國立臺灣交響樂團「2020–2021 國際音樂人才拔尖計畫」，2022 年獲頒新北市「樂壇新星」獎。
其演出足跡遍及德國、奧地利、義大利、西班牙、法國、比利時、斯洛維尼亞、中國、臺灣與澳門，合作樂團包括法國 Picardie 管弦樂團、義大利普利亞愛樂管弦樂團，以及 Friuli Venezia Giulia 室內管弦樂團。近年亦參與 Arie Vardi、Robert Levin、Bernd Goetzke、Klaus Hellwig、Alexei Lubimov 及 Claudio Martínez-Mehner 等國際音樂家之大師班。
